This course is geared for first-time users of XNAT. We'll walk through the basics of what XNAT can do, and give you a peek inside the box to show you how our open-source software manages to support some of the world's largest imaging research studies.
If you participate in the practical exercises of this course, you'll also get quick, hands-on experience with basic XNAT operations, including creating your own example project and working with some local data.
For the lectures in this course, all you need is a browser and an internet connection. If you want to participate in the practical exercises, you will need the ability to install software on your local machine, and some basic comfort level with the command line.

The Open edX platform works well with all modern browsers.
See our list of supported browsers for the most up-to-date information.
We recommend installing XNAT on a Linux server. However, since we are installing XNAT in a virtual machine using VirtualBox, you can use any operating system you like. We do recommend that you have at least 8 GB RAM installed in your local computer.
